Kibbe soft Dramatic Body Type:

The Ultimate Guide

to Styling Your Bold, sensual Silhouette

At Maeve Mélange, we honor the uniqueness of every body type (or Image Identities as Kibbe calls them), and this page pays homage to the striking presence of the Soft Dramatic (SD). This type blends the sharpness of Yang with the warmth of Yin, creating a dynamic and harmonious balance that demands attention while retaining a sensual elegance.

What Defines the soft Dramatic Image Identity?

Soft Dramatics are defined by their straight torso and curve on their lower half with fuller facial features. Their Kibbe “accomodation” (aka what makes them special) is vertical and curve - they visibility look taller than they are because (essentially) there’s a line from their neck to their ankle that we’re trying not to break to reinforce that height, and there’s a curve on their lower half (aka they’ve got ‘dem hips’). Their overall silhouette is tall and commanding, with a pronounced sense of stature (with large hands and long legs), but is balanced by fluid, feminine curves that add warmth and approachability.

Soft Dramatic faces tend to have fuller or rounder features, such as plump lips, contoured cheeks, and slightly wider noses, which further contribute to their inviting, balanced presence.

key features of a soft dramatic:

  • Moderate to Tall: Typically 5’6” (167 cm) or taller

  • Large/Angular Bone Structure: Large, angular bones that create a strong and bold frame, softened by their curvy, rounded flesh

  • Long Arms/Limbs: Elongated limbs & fleshy upper arms and thighs typical

  • Prominent Hands and Feet: Large or elongated hands and feet amplify their bold stature

  • Fleshy Bust & Hips: Fleshy busts and hips, contributing to their curvaceous silhouette

  • Prominent Facial Bones: Facial bone structure is sharp and angular, creating a striking and defined look

  • Full Facial Features: Full, rounded features—large eyes, plump lips, and fleshy cheeks

  • Sharp & Large Nose: Nose is often sharp or large, adding to the bold, dynamic impression of the Soft Dramatic

You’re Not a soft Dramatic If…

Your body and facial features lack the necessary combination of sharp structure and soft, curvaceous elements. Soft Dramatics are curvy and luscious in all the right places (Sophia Vergara, eat your heart out!) If any of the traits below resonate with you, you may belong to a different body type:

  • You’re petite (or significantly shorter than moderate to tall)

  • Your body is very straight (lacking the lower curve/hips of a Soft Dramatic)

  • Your arms/legs are short (without the elongated appearance)

  • Your bone structure is delicate (no bold, angular presence)

  • Your facial features are delicate/small (lacking boldness/fullness)

The soft Dramatic Style Code

Graceful power. Effortless sophistication. Soft Dramatic clothing is inspired by menswear, but cut for curves. SDs thrive in long, flowing lines that emphasize the waist and natural curves. Your wardrobe should reflect the same architectural elegance—fluid, refined, and confidently feminine.

Fabrics & Materials

  • Lightweight & Flowing: Soft fabrics like silk, chiffon, bamboo, charmeuse, gauze, and jersey that drape beautifully, enhancing the natural shape

  • Glossy & Shiny Details: Satin, metallics, stretch lamé, and glossy fabrics that bring a touch of glamour and sophistication

  • Soft Draped Materials: Crepe, jersey, and similar fabrics that contour the body while maintaining fluidity

  • Elegant & Luxurious: Velvet and cashmere that provide a polished, refined finish

Necklines

  • Cowl Necklines: Draped and fluid, adding movement and volume to the neckline

  • V-Neck: Elongates the torso and highlights curves with understated elegance

  • Draped or Wrap: Flattering and feminine styles that accentuate the waist and bust

  • Off the Shoulder: Showcases the shoulders, bringing a dramatic, yet elegant, touch

  • Square Necklines: Structured yet soft, balancing the overall silhouette

  • Mock Necklines: Adds subtle height and sophistication with a polished finish

Silhouette & Fit

  • Fluid & Feminine: Dresses and tops that hug the waist and flow gently down the body (nothing too wide and bulky)

  • Tailored Elegance: Waist definition is pivotal with soft flow at the bust and hips, allowing for natural curvature and flow

  • Elongated, Narrow Proportions: Midi/maxi dresses, long skirts, and full-length garments extending width-wise no further than your natural hip will enhance your vertical

  • Defined Waist: Soft, gentle waistlines that draw attention to curves (like ruching on skirts, fabric waist ties on dresses skirts, etc)

Prints & Patterns

  • Clean & Impactful: Large-scale patterns (bigger than a quarter or 2.5 cm)

  • Fluid & Rounded: Continuous flowing patterns like watercolor or angular & rounded prints like animal prints, flowers, etc

Accessories

  • Bold Jewelry: Sculptural, statement pieces that draw attention and add elegance (massive costume jewelry, anyone?!)

  • Wide Belts: Create waist definition and complement the natural curves (the bigger the better, babe)

  • Tailored Hats: Angular brims and sleek designs that enhance the overall silhouette (think massive fedoras, derby hats, or basically anything Pharrell would wear)

  • Avoid Delicate Details: Skip dainty, intricate accessories in favor of bold, modern lines (SDs are not delicate flowers - wear the big fun stuff!)

Shoes

  • Pointed-Toe Styles: Elongate the legs and reinforce the dramatic, sleek look

  • Sleek & Angular: Square toe, tapered toe, d’orsay, etc.

  • Narrow, High Heels: Elongates the legs and adds sophisticated flair (love stilettos? You’re in luck!)

Tops & Dresses

Tops

  • Tailored & Feminine: Blouses with tapered wrists, sharp lapel wrap, slightly billowy sleeves, pussybows, and/or pleating at the shoulders (you need waist emphasis, babe)

  • Draped & Wrap Styles: Accentuates curves and makes you effortlessly chic (ex. asymmetrical, cowl, surplice)

DRESSES

  • Broad/Slim/Flowing: broad in the shoulder, slimming at the waist, flowing throughout the body

  • Bias-Cut & Slit: Draping styles that bring out movement and flow

  • Length: Knee-length or below is best

Pants

  • Wide-Leg & Draped: soft fabric pants that hug your hips and thighs with wide legs that are draped (but no wider than the widest curve of our hip then drop straight to the ground to accommodate narrow)

  • Mid to High Rise: long inseams are important to accommodate vertical - elongate those legs!

  • Cuts: straight leg (that extends to the widest part of your hip) or flared leg
